  As a young man, William went from New York to Michigan, where he settled in Lenox Twp., Macomb Co. He married late in life (age 42), and he and his wife, Mary, had 8 children. William apparently died sometime after the birth of his youngest child in 1863. Mary and her children lived in seclusion, and only one daughter, Hattie, married.
